Tattoo After Care

Step-by-Step

Step 1. For 3-4 days, keep your first bandage on.

Step 2. After 3-4 days, soak your bandage in the shower to loosen the glue. Starting with the edges, peel off the bandage while in the shower.

Step 3. While in the shower, wipe your tattoo clean with Dial Gold antibacterial soap, using only your hands. No loofahs or wash cloths.

Step 4. After the shower, pat your tattoo gently with a lint-free towel.

Step 5. After drying your tattoo, apply the second bandage. See the video below for a visual guide. Peel off the white side first, and apply the bandage starting from the center, working your way out. Once fully applied, peel off the side of the bandage with the crosses. Look for the yellow arrows to help.

Step 6. After applying the second bandage, keep the bandage on for 7 days.

Step 7. 7 days after applying your second bandage, repeat steps 2-4 to remove your second bandage.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Don’t worry if the first bandage pools blood and plasma. This is completely normal.

  • Don’t use the bandage if allergic to adhesives or latex.

  • Don’t soak in water (bath, pool, ocean, etc.) for 5 weeks after getting your tattoo.

  • Don’t let your pet lick your tattoo.

  • Do take the bandage off early if it starts to irritate you or leaks from the sides.

  • Do apply a small amount of lotion after removing your bandage (Lubriderm or Cetaphil. NO Aquaphor or Petroleum-based products).

  • Do buy more bandages as needed.

  • Do stay hydrated!
